Mandana maiden ton in vain as Aussie women beat India in 2nd ODI

Opener Smriti Mandana’s maiden ton went in vain as the Australian women’s cricket team claimed a six-wicket win over India in the second one-day international at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Friday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Opting to bat first, India relied on Mandana’s scintillating 102 and captain Mithali Raj’s crucial 58 to make 252 for eight as they were aiming for an equaliser.

However, Australia won the match with 20 balls remaining, thanks to a solid 138-run opening partnership between Nicole Bolton (77) and Meg Lanning (61).
The Indian bowlers failed to put pressure on the hosts as Jess Jonassen (29 not out) and Alyssa Healy (29 not out) eased the home side to victory in the 47th over, with 20 deliveries to spare.
The sides will play an inconsequential third ODI at the same venue on Sunday.
